How old do you have to be to compete in pro wrestling?
I want to be a professional wrestler and have skills. How old does pro wrestling require you to be to become one?
Legally 16 since it's the work age in the US. However, it varies from promoter to promoter. Some will allow 16 year old wrestlers and the like (typically indies or micro promotions) or in some cases you'll need to be 18 (or lie about your age).
In other cases it might not matter if you're skilled enough and have potential--however you'd still need to be 16 to avoid legal action (child labor laws) and probably 18 to avoid child endangerment on your watch...especially if the parents haven't agreed to their under 18 year old wrestling against generally older wrestlers in a pretty unpredictable situation (due to the lax nature of pro wrestling rules that is).
So a safe age would be 18. A couple of wrestlers (The Hardy's, The Stampede Crew: TJ Wilson AKA Tyson Kid, Teddy Hart, etc, and others) have started younger. In Japan there's a young girl under 13 who competes (due to her uncle--a wrestler--being heavily involved with the company)...however this is in a comedy-based wrestling group.
